I used three egg whites and some tomatoes I had handy along with some onions I sliced up.
Zebb’s in Milwaukee: where we found a great veggie omelette
We stopped at the first we came to, the Omega, but the hostess there kept ignoring us in the crowd and seating people who came in after us, so we left and went across the street to Zebb’s. That turned out to be a great decision.
Best place for brunch? My favorite cities top a new list
Did you know April is national brunch month? Me either, who comes up with these things? I recently received a press release, from Lawnstarter.com of all places, rating the best brunch cities in the country. No surprise that the top three — New York, San Francisco and Chicago — are three of my favorite U.S…. Continue Reading →
Cholesterol and Heart-Health: Not Nearly as Simple as We’d Like It To Be
Keep your cholesterol numbers down, particularly the “bad” cholesterol, and you’ll keep your heart healthy…at least that’s what we’d like to think. Sadly, Americans constant search for easy answers about eating and good health gravitate to simple solutions that, most of the time, are simply wrong. That goes for cholesterol too, according to this article… Continue Reading →
A crack is appearing in eggs’ healthy image
Food science is inexact at best. I’m constantly reminded that as different nutritionists or diet proponents say they know what’s healthy and it may not be what the other person is pushing. A Chicago north suburban favorite reborn — Kappy’s
Kappy’s has been in the Chicago suburb of Morton Grove for more than 30 years and was the kind of old-school diner that had the spinning dessert refrigerator in the front with massive cakes and pies in it all the time. When my son was young, I remember taking him there for a birthday meal just… Continue Reading →
Omega in Milwaukee gets a second chance and does well
I’ve written before about how we were snubbed for a table when we stopped at an old-fashioned Greek diner on the South Side of Milwaukee called the Omega. We left and went across the street to a place called Zebb’s where I had a nice veggie omelet instead. But on our most recent trip to… Continue Reading →
