New generation of friers

Are you big on reducing the amount of fat in your diet, but you occasional fall down and have the odd fried treat? Then it might be worth looking into getting one of the new generation of friers.

These friers, instead of bathing your food in oil, rotate and use air to cover the food evenly for cooking with as a little as one tablespoon of oil per batch. That means that even if you do have a moment of weakness you whole lifestyle isn’t out the window.

Grill Pans

Another fantastic way of reducing the amount of fat that you consume is to treat yourself to a raised grill pan. The channels and peaks that these grill pans have means you get a great sear on what you are cooking and the oil just runs straight off. This means you get all the flavor with a lot less fat, so they are perfect for cooking salmon and chicken for those who are into healthy eating.

Oil Spritz

Oil spritzers have been around for awhile now, but it’s always surprising that more people don’t use them. They are spray bottles that contains a combination of oil and water. Which of course don’t mix. To use them you have to shake the bottle then pump they spray. This produces a mix of oil and water and so reduces the amount of oil you use for cooking. Simple but effective.

Dressing Measure

It’s no good increasing all the vegetable and fruit you are eating by munching on endless salads if you are drowning them in heavy dressings. What a lot of people don’t realize is that dressing is a much ignored source of fat and sometimes sugar in the diet. So, too much is never is a good idea.

A great way of making sure you are not going overboard with dressing is to use a portion measuring pot. Then you won’t be sabotaging all your good work, as you can easily and conveniently limit the amount you have on each serving.
